Entertainment Cruises, to the rescue.
When the world bleeds, it is our duty to help. Though the hurt may be far away, it is important for us all to feel it here. Wherever we may be.
A few weeks ago, a memo was sent from our CEO titled Re: Haiti Earthquake – Sending Aid
The earthquake experienced in Haiti is estimated to have affected as many as three million people. Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. Entertainment Cruises will be making a contribution to the American Red Cross to help provide relief to those affected…you get the gist…
And now, the unexpected part.
Entertainment Cruises would also like to offer anyone thinking of making a contribution a company match of all donations from shipmates at 3x – tripling your donations up to a maximum of $10,000.
So, whatever I donate, my company with triple… up to $10,000! That was exciting and surprising to hear. Not because the company is stingy, it is not by any means. But because coming out of a recession, it is just not something you would expect to see practiced. But at this company, I guess when I thought about it, it really wasn’t all that unforeseen.
In less than two weeks time, here is what we came up with:
The shipmate’s grand total was $4,487.
The final contribution after the company match was $14,487.
Success? I say YES. It just goes to show, that even in a time when budgets are probably at the forefront of people’s minds, kindness and generosity seem to find a way through.
The day that ceases to be, is the day we are all in trouble – beyond the damage any size earthquake can manifest.
