A Valentine's Day in D.C. is sure to be one to remember

Washington D.C. may not immediately come to mind when you think of the world's most romantic cities, but it is more heartwarming than you might think. Our nation's capital is a great place to spend Valentine's Day with your significant other and there are plenty of unique ways to celebrate this February 14.

At the surface, the National Zoo does not seem like a great place for a Valentine's Day date, but dig a little deeper and you might find some surprises. Specifically, the park hosts its annual Woo at the Zoo program every year, which provides couples with a unique, and sometimes humorous way to mark the occasion.

This year's event is slated for February 11 and is highlighted by a funny discussion about the mating habits of some of the zoo's most famous residents - a fitting topic for the most love-filled of holidays. Of course, it's not just an educational experience and attendees are treated to hors d'oeuvres, champagne and access to a cash bar.

Although Woo at the Zoo might be a lighthearted way to celebrate Valentine's Day, chances are you'll want a more private method as well so you can show your other half how you really feel about them, and a dinner cruise in down the Potomac River may be your best option.

To get the best experience, you two can hop aboard the elegant Odyssey for an evening that you'll never forget. The delicious dinner aboard the sophisticated entertainment vessel is just the beginning. In addition to the cuisine, you and your loved one will be treated to excellent live entertainment and dancing that will go a long way toward setting the mood.

The dinner combined with live music may be impressive, but the beautiful views offered by the enormous glass windows of the Odyssey are even more so. You can experience the sights of Washington, D.C. like you never have before - while your floating along the Potomac.

Though it can sometimes be hard to find the perfect romantic gesture each Valentine's Day, you'll be hard pressed to find someone who won't be moved by a classy evening in one of the country's most storied cities.
